Cats have a built-in "righting reflex," which allows them to twist their bodies in mid-air to land on their feet, often from surprisingly high falls. In fact, there's even a term for the phenomenon of cats surviving absurdly long drops: "cat splat." Studies show that cats falling from over seven stories may actually fare better than those falling from just two or three, as they have more time to relax, spread out, and slow their descent. So, in a strange way, higher might just be safer—if you're a cat, that is!
