🧠 The Daily Fact #38

A narwhal’s tusk isn’t a horn—it’s actually a giant tooth that can grow up to 10 feet long and spiral like a unicorn’s. But what’s even weirder? That tooth is full of nerves and can sense changes in water temperature, pressure, and even salt levels. It's essentially a sensory organ sticking right out of their face. Scientists once thought only males had tusks for fighting or mating displays, but it turns out some females grow them too, just less often.

Narwhals don’t use their tusks to stab things like underwater swordsmen. Instead, they may use them to gently tap fish before eating or just flex their fancy facial feature to impress.

Which animal has the most teeth overall, with some individuals sporting over 25,000 of them?
