In 1977, the country of Bhutan became the first in the world to measure "Gross National Happiness" (GNH) instead of just economic output. This unique metric evaluates well-being through nine domains, including psychological well-being, cultural diversity, ecological resilience, and good governance. Bhutan’s philosophy is that true development should be holistic, balancing material progress with spiritual and emotional fulfillment.
